In Western Europe IT revenues are expected to grow by 2.0 percent in 2009 to a total of € 314.5 billion. The previous EITO forecast was 4.0 percent. CeBIT Global Conferences

Four-day program with top speakers from all over the world

Global conferences

Following a highly successful start in 2008, the organizers of CeBIT have decided to considerably extend the CeBIT Global Conferences program next year. “CeBIT is not only a trade show – and the unique format of CeBIT Global Conferences provides the international ICT industry with the perfect platform for that all-important knowledge transfer at the highest level”, says Ernst Raue, CeBIT Board Member at Deutsche Messe AG in Hannover. This time round the program has been extended to four days.

The start of the event is still three months away, yet many of the keynote speakers expected to take part in the CeBIT Global Conferences have already confirmed their attendance. “The list of companies attending really leaves nothing to be desired”, says Raue. Numerous international companies from the ICT sector as well as professional organizations will be sending their top management representatives as keynote speakers or members of the four panel discussions planned for the event.

On the first day of CeBIT, the Global Conferences program focuses on global social issues in which ICT has a key role to play. The agenda will be dominated by such central questions as: What influence does ICT have today on democratic elections? What feasible solutions exist in the energy sector? How can universal education succeed in modern information-based societies? The second day of the CeBIT week, Wednesday, will be devoted to the rapidly increasing mobility of communications. On Thursday, participants will consider how IT can facilitate and promote innovation under the program motto “Business 2015”. The CeBIT Global Conferences program on Friday takes place under the keynote theme “Webciety”, a title derived from web and society, which directs attention to issues around the future of the Internet and its impact on business and society.

The keynote lectures begin at 10.00 a.m. and the panel discussions start at noon. Between 1.45 and 5.00 p.m. there will be special themed tours of the Exhibition Grounds which address a broad range of specific topics. Free admission to the CeBIT Global Conferences program is secured upon presentation of a CeBIT ticket at the gate.

To date, the following companies have announced that they are taking part in CeBIT Global Conferences 2009: Alcatel-Lucent, Intel, Microsoft, Skype, Dell, Porsche, Capgemini, IBM, Software AG, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Xing and Ciao, as well as representatives of the Partner State California, France, the European Parliament and the German ICT industry association BITKOM.
